Prompts “Carlie’s Crusade” And “REACT”
Release, Escape, Take
Action, Use Counter Tactics
CORNWALL, NY, March 9, 2004
– Cornwall Police Officer, Keith Lipsey is reacting to the surveillance video
that was released on the news about Carlie Brucia and her horrible fate. Lipsey feels that if Carlie had attempted to
release her hand from the man’s grip, things may have turned out differently. Officer Lipsey’s new campaign could be an
asset in any young girls life. “Carlie’s Crusade and REACT” are for the safety and wellness of our
children,” says Lipsey. This program
has been deemed a necessary tool shown by the number of volunteers and by the
number of registrants to the upcoming program.
Officer Lipsey states, “Anyone
that has a child, particularly a young girl should hope to see this program
incorporated into our school systems.”
The importance of REACT
, (Release, Escape, Take Action, Use Counter Tactics) could give young girls the confidence in
potentially detrimental situations of abductions. Officer Lipsey has created Carlie’s Crusade and has approached Senator William Larkin as well as the Criminal Justice Board. A letter to the State Education Department
regarding this program as part of the
curriculum is also in the works.
Officer Keith Lipsey is offering a free class geared towards young girls,
junior high thru high school at DJs Arena located at 59 North Plank Road in
Newburgh the next 4 Tuesdays starting March 9th. Another free class will be held on Friday, March 12th
at The New York Military Academy from 6:30-7:30.
